Contribute to the Fight Against Breast Cancer!

This year in the US, it’s estimated that 300,000 women will receive a new breast cancer diagnosis and over 40,000 women will die of breast cancer. Internationally, deaths will number over 450,000.

But the news isn’t all bad. Since 1989, the number of deaths from breast cancer has been decreasing every year, and that’s because of improved research, awareness and early detection. Statistics like this are how we know that Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a valuable tool in winning the fight against breast cancer. Every penny that goes towards research and education is saving lives.

I’m a breast cancer survivor and I’m committed to helping other women win this fight. My daughter Dominique and I will be contributing to the cause and I hope you will too.
Look below for details on some of the many ways you can support breast cancer research and awareness. Your time or money can help save lives. With 1 in 8 women receiving a breast cancer diagnosis in their lives, your help is certain to make a difference in the life of someone you care about.

I'll be adding on to this list as more events come up, so please check back and email me any events you hear about at jackiescura@aol.com.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks are the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting nearly 300 communities with a shared determination to finish the fight. By signing up, fundraising, and participating in one of our noncompetitive, three- to five-mile walks, you will help us be there for everyone in every community touched by breast cancer. You will help those who are currently dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis, those who may face a diagnosis in the future, and those who may avoid a diagnosis altogether thanks to education and prevention.

Towaco is Montville's New Downtown!

One of the best things about Morris County is how many traditional downtowns full of small, local businesses we have. Outsiders might be surprised that we can be so old-fashioned in a state that's criss-crossed with major highways and big box bargain stores, but those in the know realize NJ offers the unique opportunity to enjoy Norman Rockwell style charm with Mid-Town access and world class culture and dining all around you.

Two years ago, Money Magazine named Montville the #13 Best Town to Live In in America. Despite high praise, the one feature they felt Montville lacked was a real downtown for its residents. Change was already in the works, though, and I'm happy to report that thanks to the efforts of investors, residents and the local government, Towaco center is transforming into the kind of walk-able downtown that anchors a community. The area around Montville's train station is suddenly home to a thriving group of new businesses with many more to come.

Don't Get Left in the Cold by Winter Utility Shut-Offs!

Wintertime can be costly. It begins with all the expenses of the Holidays, and then all it takes is a run of extra cold days to blow your budget. Fortunately there are laws that can protect you if you are unable to pay your utility bills. Know your rights and you'll never get left out in the cold.

Understanding The "Senior Freeze" Property Tax Reimbursement

Getting your retirement budget in order can be tricky. There are so many possible expenses to worry about - especially if you’re a homeowner. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could guarantee that your property tax payments would stay the same for as long as you lived in your home?

Thankfully, our state legislators want seniors to be able to retire with some added peace of mind. In the late 90s they instituted the “Senior Freeze” property tax reimbursement, which caps your property tax payment the year you qualify, and then reimburses you for any future hikes. The reimbursement also applies to mobile homes and caps their lot fees.

Choose The Right Assisted Living Community for YOU!

Now that real estate values in Morris County are on the rise, I have more and more New Jersey sellers who are ready to cash out of their single family homes and retire to an assisted living community. Imagine being able to give up housekeeping, cooking, and laundry for the rest of your life! You can live in a community with activities, friends, and medical services just steps away and never have to mow the grass or repair your home again.
